Hérolles is on the borders of the
Parc de la Brenne, the district of 2,500 Lakes.
The walks, wild life, woods and lakes are fabulous.
On the 29th of
every month, Les Hérolles hosts the largest
market in France, and there are markets in some
of the surrounding villages every Sunday.
A nearby small
town, La Trimouille, has a number
of good restaurants and necessary shops, although
mobile shops come to Les Hérolles. The Benaize
river runs through La Trimouille and provides superb
fishing.
Montmorillon
has several supermarkets and a helpful Tourist Board.
To fully enjoy
the area a car is necessary.
Travel
Limoges
and Poitiers have airports with
low cost flights from Stansted and Southampton with
Ryan Air or Flybe.
The Ports of Cherbourg,
St Malo and Caen
are within 5 hours drive.
Paris
and Bordeaux are accessable via
TGV from Poitiers, and the nearest the railway station
is at Montmorillon.
